"The conference... was spectacular! The featured speakers were very motivational and informative. Interacting with others and discussing our mutual challenges made me feel a part of something bigger than myself." ~ A Coach from Kansas City
The 2019 Play Like a Champion Today Sports Leadership Conference is quickly approaching, with youth and high school athletic leaders from across the country set to descend on the University of Notre Dame's campus June 21-22, 2019. Former college All-American and NFL player Devon Still headlines an outstanding group of unique speakers and presenters who promise to educate and inspire attendees. Following last year's record setting attendance, the 2019 conference is once again filling up quickly.
This year's Friday evening keynote features Devon Still. No stranger to adversity, Still grew up on streets riddled with violence and drugs. Turned on to the sport of football by his father at age 13, Still overcame injuries and long odds to become a college All-American and NFL defensive lineman. The challenges just kept coming. As a captain at Penn State, he led his teammates through one of the biggest scandals in NCAA history. Once in the NFL, he stepped away from the game to care for his daughter Leah, who inspired the nation in her battle with pediatric cancer. Still will share wisdom gained and inspire attendees through his winning playbook for sports and life.
The conference's other speakers could all be considered headliners in their own right. Olympic fencer Molly Sliney will share her story during the conference's first day, as will high performance coach Dana Cavalea, an author and former World Series Champion as the Director of Performance for the New York Yankees. LaGwyn Durden will draw upon an impressive resume that includes a role in 2 Olympic games and work at the University of Texas prior to her current role as the Director of Sports Medicine for the NCAA's Sports Science Institute. LaTonya Pinkard rose to national fame for her real-life role in the popular Netflix documentary Last Chance U, while Frank Alloco will draw upon an impressive youth, high school and college coaching career that spans 44 years to provide Real Lessons Learned from Sports. This tremendous group is only the beginning; learn more about the event and read speaker profiles in the 2019 Conference Preview and stay tuned for an exciting announcement about even more speakers.

Centered on the theme A Team for Every Child, this year's conference challenges each of us to create opportunities for all children to participate in a developmentally-focused sports experience that changes lives for the good. It promises to provide a wide range of speakers and topics of interest to current administrators and coaches.
In addition to the keynote speakers listed above, the conference will feature breakout sessions, group panels, and interactive discussions with attendees. A Pre-Conference Retreat is also available for those interested on Thursday, June 20th.
