Chicago's North Lawndale Eagles Football Program Enjoys a Road Trip
Updated: Apr 3, 2018
Play Like a Champion enjoys a special partnership with the North Lawndale Community in Chicago. Late in April, 50 football players, coaches and parents from the North Lawndale Eagles Football Program traveled to Notre Dame to experience the annual spring football game with Play Like a Champion and Old St. Pats Church's sponsorship. Corey Robinson, graduating Notre Dame football player and current Notre Dame Student Body President, met with the kids at the LaBar Football practice field. Corey discussed his gratitude for his support system throughout his career (family, coaches, teammates) as well as how much he enjoyed his experience at Notre Dame as both an athlete and a student.
Coach Charles Rice, the Executive Director of the Eagles, expressed his thanks and noted "that it doesn't happen every day that a team from inner-city Chicago has the opportunity to listen to Corey and experience this historic University." He went on to say, "This visit has had a huge impact on our program thus far. Many of our student athletes had never been to a college campus and probably would have never thought about it. Allowing the team to tour campus and meet with collegiate student athletes has provided hopes and dreams for our athletes. This trip did not only inspire the team in a football sense but also inspired the team to do well academically." We look forward to ongoing partnership with this fine football program.
