UCOACH Software
UCOACH is a computer simulation designed by Dr. George Howard that gives you the chance to balance two of the most common goals of a sports season: winning and equity of playing time. UCOACH gives you the opportunity to choose a lineup for each of eight periods of basketball for a six game season. Player skill levels vary, with 1 being the most skilled, and 10 being the least skilled. Substituting players with less skill level is encouraged in order to increase equity once your team is ahead or behind by four points. At the end of the exercise, UCOACH gives your season win/loss record and tells you how well you administered equal playing time indicated by how many periods each player played throughout the season. UCOACH can help parents and coaches to think on the same level in terms of winning and equity of playing time throughout the season.
