About the Play Like A Champion Today™ Educational Series

The Play Like A Champion TodayTM  (PLC) Educational Series has been crafted by leaders in the fields of educational development, sports psychology and youth ministry to support schools, community programs and leagues, parishes, and dioceses in creating a positive climate in sports.

Several years in development, program director Dr. Clark Power and his colleagues at the University of Notre Dame developed the Sports as Ministry Initiative as a way of helping Catholic-sponsored sports programs to realize their mission.   

Since its beginnings in 2006, PLC has developed partnerships with organizations, parishes, and schools in over 30 dioceses, including 19 diocese/city-wide leagues. To date over 15,000 coaches and 3,000 parents have attended PLC workshops impacting the lives of over 500,000 young athletes.

Today, PLC offers programs for both Catholic and public sports programs in the areas of both youth and high school.  These programs include: 

• Sports as Ministry Initiative (SAM)
• Coaching for Character (C4C)
• Parent Like A Champion Today
• Play Like A Champion Today™ for High Schools
